Singtel releases price plans – and dissapoints
The cat’s out of the bag so to say. Singtel has announced its price plans for the iPhone and I am disappointed. There are several reasons for me not to by jumping with joy
- There is no unlimited data plan. da!! this is singapore folks with a 90% mobile penetration. Look at Starhub, for S$37 you get unlimited data.
- The phone is about S$800+ with a S$27 plan. Taking a minimum of 2 years contract the cheapest it would be (without data!!) is 1496. why would I not just get it shipped from HK ?
- NO Visual Voice mail ? WHAT ?
- Its 12:34 in the night so I am sleepy!
Is it all dark news you ask. Well not really, there are a few very interesting tit bits in the FAQ that actually put a smile on my face.
- The phone WILL NOT BE locked with Singtel. Notice how singtel says it may work with Starhub and M1, not it will not work
- Singtel will allow phones from other places here in singapore. In case you are interested.
So what will I do on the 22 ? Well not sure if I will still stand in line so to say for this. I will surely go and play with the phone, even might check out if my starhub sim works with it or not. Will I buy it, depends on the contract length that singtel is insisting on. If it’s 2 years then a big NO, its far too expensive even for a fan boy
I might also wait to see how much the phone will cost on the grey market or in India before I get it here.
UPDATE: I just got singtel to release my password for the login page. I have a confirmed booking for the 25 @ 3 pm
